Javelinas' Tressor Baptiste gets one last chance to impress scouts - George Vondracek, Corpus Christi Caller Times
Most NCAA Division II football players don't get an extra chance to display their wares after the regular season concludes.

Texas A&M-Kingsville linebacker Tressor Baptiste had such a chance in last month's Cactus Bowl at Javelina Stadium. The result: four assisted tackles in a diminished role as the All-American nursed a strained hamstring.

But Baptiste is getting another opportunity to make an impression on professional scouts. He and 108 other collegians — including former Kingsville High School and Texas A&M standout Lucas Patterson — will play in the NFLPA Texas vs. Nation all-star game at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

"This is another shot. I'm just thankful for the opportunity," said Baptiste, the Lone Star Conference South Division Linebacker of the Year. "Not having my best performance at the Cactus Bowl due to the hamstring, I'm just blessed to have this second opportunity to go out and showcase my talents again in front of many scouts."
