Baseball season started last week with half of the Lone Star Conference teams in action.  The season continues with a full slate of non-conference games this week.
LSC baseball teams are 14-2 overall this season.  In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 11-2 overall including 3-0 combined versus Heartland Conference teams, 8-2 opposed to the Great American Conference and 0-0 against the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

Quaid McKinnon, Angelo State University, JR, 1B, Phoenix, Ariz., Arcadia HS
McKinnon led Angelo State with eight hits and six RBI in 13 at-bats as the Rams swept Ouachita Baptist in a four-game series. McKinnon is hitting .615 and has scored seven runs through the first four games of the ASU baseball season.

Tyler Eager, Abilene Christian University, FR, OF, Forth Worth, Texas, Fort Worth Christian HS
Eager batted .500 for the Wildcats in his first weekend as a collegiate baseball player, going 8-for-19 with nine runs and seven RBI in a four-game series vs. Arkansas Tech. Eager went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs in his debut Friday night, scoring one of four runs in the ninth that allowed ACU to complete its comeback from an earlier 10-5 deficit. In game three, Eager reached base all five times and scored four runs. He recorded two singles, was hit by a pitch, and reached via fielder’s choice and error. In game four, Eager went 4-for-6 with runs in the first and second and had RBI hits in the sixth and eighth that helped ACU keep a comfortable lead over Arkansas Tech.

Rick Reyna, Angelo State University, SR, RHP, Mission, Texas, Mission HS
Reyna led Angelo State to a season-opening win with a 12 strikeout performance where he went six innings of scoreless baseball against Ouachita Baptist. The senior right-handed pitcher allowed only three hits and held OBU batters to a .143 batting average. His 12 strikeouts tied an ASU single-game record.

Pete Perez, Tarleton State University, SR, Starting Pitcher, Sacramento, Calif., River City HS
Perez threw a one-hitter gem against McMurry in the second game of the series on Saturday. In six innings of work, Perez gave up a single hit, walked no one and struck out six to lead Tarleton to victory. The California native has yet to give up a run for the Texans
