Baseball: ASU, TAMUK eliminated at regional - LSC Office
Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville both saw their seasons end at the NCAA Division II Baseball South Central Regional in Warrensburg, Mo.

ASU (40-17) opened the regional with a 7-2 loss to Southern Arkansas, and then dropped a 13-10 decision to St. Edward’s.  The Rams advanced to the regional tournament for the third time in program history after winning the Lone Star Conference championship and tournament titles. ASU didn’t lose more than two games in a row this season and won 40 games or more for the fourth time since the program was started in 2005.

TAMUK (31-18) started the regional with an 8-4 defeat against St. Mary’s, before being eliminated by top seed and host Central Missouri, 10-5. The Javelinas finished the season as only the third team in school history to play in a regional tournament.










Abilene Christian’s run at the 2012 NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championships concluded in the semifinals with a 5-0 loss to BYU-Hawai'i. The Wildcats impressive season ends at 26-4, as they were swept in doubles for the first time all season. ACU defeated Indiana (PA) and Lynn in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals, respectively.

 Cameron dropped its Round of 16 match to California (PA) 5-2. The Aggies finished the season with a 23-5 record, which is the winningest season in program history. Additionally, CU made its second consecutive trip to the national tournament. On the men’s side, ACU blanked Northern Kentucky 5-0 to open the championships, before falling to Lynn 5-3 in the quarterfinals. The Wildcats successful 2012 campaign ended at 21-9.







Women’s Golf: Tarleton finishes fifth at NCAA Championships - LSC Office

Tarleton State completed its run at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships at Persimmons Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky., with a 322 for a fifth-place finish with a 1,291 total.

The TexAnns started off in ninth place after the first round and continued to climb the standings throughout the event.  Tarleton was eighth after the second round and sixth after the third round.
Individually, Jacqueline Lau led the way for the TexAnns, shooting a 318, which tied for 16th.  Sharon Lau also broke the top-25 with a 321, which tied her for 23rd.  Jessica Pickwick shot a 326 (T-33rd), while Katy Ward finished with a 327 (38th) and Sarah Fulfer shot a 353 (61st).
Tarleton made its sixth straight trip to the championships and recorded the sixth top-five finish.

Nova Southeastern took first place overall at 1,234, with three individuals in the top four golfers, to earn their fourth straight national title.  Florida Southern (1,254), Grand Canyon (1,273) and Barry (1,284) came in just ahead of Tarleton.
